Thika Technical is a middle-level Government Technical Training Institute situated within Thika Town in Kiambu County. It offers a range of Engineering, Business, Science, Technology and related courses.

The Institute is searching for a qualified, dynamic and self-motivated person to fill the position of Finance Officer. This is a senior position that reports directly to the Institute Principal.

  1. 1.Main duties and Responsibilities:

Ensure timely preparation of accurate trial balances and other financial reports to enable discussion and decision-making;

  1. Monitors and advises the Principal on adherence to liquidity ratios and other financial requirements;
  2. To prepare monthly cash flow projections;
  3. To ensure implementation and sustenance of sound accounting system(s) and routines in the Institute;
  4. Ensure proper and accurate maintenance of the Institute’s fixed asset register;
  5. Guides and ensures proper preparation of strategic plans and annual budgets and oversees investment ensuring that these are resourced are implemented;
  6. Ensure that the full set of audited accounts are available timeously for presentation to the BOG; and
  7. Ensure that all bank accounts are properly updated and that monthly bank reconciliation statements are correctly and timely done for all the Institute’s bank accounts.                                                          
  1. 2.Minimum Qualifications, Skills, Experience and Competencies
    1. Must be a holder of business related degree (Finance or Accounting) from a recognised University.
    2. Be a Kenyan citizen.
    3. Must be a holder of CPA (K) or equivalent accounting qualifications.
    4. Computer literate.
    5. Holder of similar position in a public learning institution for a minimum of 5 yrs. Those serving or have served in public TVET institutions will have an added advantage.
  1. 3.In addition to the above, the applicant must attach the following:
    1. Certificate of good conduct;
    2. Tax Compliance Certificate;
    3. HELB clearance certificate;
    4. CRB clearance certificate; and
    5. Clearance from EACC.
