Thika TTI department of Electrical Engineering
It covers a wide
range of sub-fields including electronics, digital computers, power
engineering, telecommunications, control systems, RF engineering, and signal
processing. In electronic engineering, we deal with non-linear and active
electrical components such as electron tubes, and semiconductor devices,
especially transistors, diodes and integrated circuits, are utilized to design
electronic circuits, devices and systems, typically also including passive
electrical components and based on printed circuit boards.
The department has
adequate facilities and resources that enable our students to get hands-on
experience and ready for the market. Our labs and workshops are fully furnished
with a variety of necessary equipment and machinery. This enables our students
develop the needed skills and expertise earliest and quickly enabling them to
fit well in the working environment. This contributes much to exposing our
students to real work scenarios and environments.
The department
offers short courses which are hands-on
oriented skills.
The courses are
modular oriented and the examining bodies for modular and short courses are KNEC and NITA respectively.
The department
exposes the students to the growing labor market and gives then a sharper edge
in the same. Our curriculum also includes a one-term attachment in the
industrial field to ensure the students are fully exposed and this attachment
is assessed by the teaching staff from the department.
